Soaps

Unexpected interpretations of old Nordic symbolism, these strange hybrids have unconventional modern additions. Interested in how this certain type of symbolism is depicted in modern times, I found various strange hybrids of this historical phenomenon. Resulting in work that imagines possible modern or future appropriations and remakes.

The material of the sculptures is soap, the most basic hand soap you will find in bathrooms. The different soap sculptures have different colors and scents, the yellow has citrus, while the grey has eucalyptus. The imagery engraved in the soaps refers to actual rune stones found in Denmark, Sweden and Lithuania. But the imagery on the soaps is screwed up and blurry and hard to read.
