Arnar Ásgeirsson (b. 1982) is an artist who received his BA in Fine Art from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and his MA from the Sandberg Instituut in the Netherlands. Working across video, drawing and sculpture, Ásgeirsson explores the ways familiar cultural references can be reinterpreted and given new meaning. Drawing on both widely recognised and more obscure imagery, he recreates everyday references to question the relationship between the original and the copy, and the boundaries between creation and imitation.
